About Me

Riches and Roses Handmade (Lesley Bauer)
Toys that inspire creative play for kids. Riches and Roses Handmade for Kids started out around 5 years ago when I was on maternity leave with my first child. It began with dreams of adding to our family income, so I could stay home with my daughter a little more and not need to work as much at my day job as a teacher. It was also a way of dealing with the daily struggle of finding quiet time to do something creative, as it forced me to sit down each night and create something, even if sometimes it was only for fifteen or twenty minutes. As my family grew, so did Riches and Roses. When I was on maternity leave with my second child, I sold also through a local cafe and moved on from making clothing to making toys for kids. At our house, the toy boxes are almost void of toys made of plastic and there are no flashing lights or beeping toys. My kids play with toys that inspire their imagination and a lot have been made by my own hands.
